And that’s it for the half-marathon

Posted on May 4, 2014

Even before I smashed my foot with a 125-pound rock, I’d already decided to abandon the half-marathon I was supposed to run today. Yeah, remember that half-marathon I was supposed to do? It’s today. Maybe even going on now. The first few months of this year, I was following a half-marathon training plan. I wanted to retry this race, which I sucked at in 2011, & do it right this time. I wrote myself a plan mixing CrossFit, sprinting, & long-distance running. I thought if I was more disciplined & fitter, I could make it work. It went pretty fine. I had a sprinting day every week. I knew it was going to be at 11 a.m., that much I remembered, because lately I can only keep track of things in terms of a 24-hour period. It’s at 11? Fine. I’ll have time to get up & eat breakfast & help get the baby ready before we have to scram. The biggest change in me since the 4 Feet Running days — more than the weight loss, more than the muscle gain, more than the…
